Michael H. Niren, Managing Partner and founder of Niren and Associates.

Michael H. Niren has dedicated his law practice exclusively to the area of Immigration and Citizenship Law. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association's Citizenship and Immigration Section and the American Bar Association. He is frequently called upon to appear in the media to discuss Canadian and US immigration issues effecting North Americans. For instance, he has been interviewed by Canada AM, CTV, Canada News Net, the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star. He also has given lectures on immigration topics overseas

Michael is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.

Tiziana Aiello—Associate Lawyer

Tiziana graduated from the National Program at the University of Ottawa where she received both her Common Law and Civil Law degrees. She became a member of the Barreau du Quebec in 1998 and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2002. Tiziana has been an associate at Niren & Associates since 2003. Prior to joining our firm, she was employed as In-House Counsel at an entertainment company in Montreal.

Tiziana represents clients in all Canadian immigration and citizenship matters. She also appears before all three Divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board, where she represents clients in refugee hearings, sponsorship appeals, and detention reviews. Tiziana also assists with various NAFTA applications, including work visas, sponsorships and cross-border issues.

Tiziana is fluent in English, French and Italian. She is also a member of the Association quebecoise des avocats et avocates en droit de l'immigration, Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Bar Association.

Mariana Brankovic –Associate Lawyer

Mariana joined Niren and Associates as a Summer Student in 2005 and returned as an Articling Student in July 2006. She became an Associate following her call to the Ontario Bar in June 2007. She deals with all areas of immigration, refugee and citizenship laws, including Judicial Reviews at the Federal Court of Canada and NAFTA cases.

She also appears at the Immigration Appeal Division, Refugee Protection Division, and Detention Reviews. Mariana also practices Family Law and assists clients with matters concerning divorce and separation.

Mariana completed her undergraduate studies in History and Political Science at York University in 2002. She graduated among the top 5% of her class. She also obtained her Master’s of Arts Degree (History) at York University in 2003. She pursued her legal studies at Osgoode Hall Law School graduating in 2006. She was also part of the Parkdale Community Legal Clinic, providing immigration, refugee and citizenship legal services.

Mariana can assist clients in English and Serbian. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Immigration Section of the Ontario Bar Association.

Fadi Minawi—US Counsel to the Firm

Fadi N. Minawi received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree from the University of Toledo, College of Law and his Honours Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons.) Degree from the University of Toronto in Political Science and Philosophy. He was a member of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court team and is a recepient of the Reinberger Honors in Prosecution award.

Fadi's primararily practices in US immigration law. He assists with matters relating to business immigration (including: relocation, expansion, investments, and work visas), litigation, admissibility issues, customs forfeitures and other cross-border issues. Fadi is also a criminal defense attorney and can assist with criminal matters in the US.

Professional memberships: New York State Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association, New York State Defenders Association, and the Bar Association of Erie County.

Mary L. Zhang - Immigration Paralegal

Mary obtained her Master of Arts degree from Hebei University in China in 1996. She further graduated from the Immigration Practitioner Program in Seneca College in 2004, with honours.

Mary L. Zhang has been an immigration paralegal since 2001. She has been assisting Michael Niren since 2004. She is experienced in Canada inland and overseas processing for permanent residence and temporary permits, as well as US work visas and Green Card matter.

Mary Rose (Maroz) Abog - Immigration Paralegal

Mary hails from the Philippines. She graduated from St. Paul College of Manila with a Bachelor of Arts degree major in Communication Arts.
 
She served for more than two years as the Legal Assistant in the Law Office of Billy Cris Vidal located at the Empire State Building, New York. She processed different kinds of US Labor and Immigration applications for Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Engineers, Managers, Executives and non-professionals as well.
 
For fifteen years, Mary Rose has honed a solid, diversified multi-cultural and extensive professional experience in Marketing Management, Creative and Communication Arts, Retail and Branch Banking Operations, and Information Technology.

Nancy Shalom – Office Manager

Nancy Shalom was born in the USA. She resided in Israel for many years where she was employed at the Canadian Embassy, Immigration Section.

After leaving the Canadian Embassy Ms. Shalom established and managed 2 companies dealing with Canadian Immigration and other types of visas.

In 2006 Ms. Shalom relocated to Montreal, Quebec where she was the Office Manager of a well known Immigration Law Firm.

In 2008 Ms. Shalom relocated to Toronto and she is currently the Office Manager of the Law Firm of Niren & Associates. She is Fluent in both English and Hebrew

Khatidja Moloo - Articling Student

Khatidja Moloo is the Articling Student at Niren and Associates for the 2008 - 2009 Year.

After completing her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at McMaster University in 2005, she went on to study law at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Having just graduated, she is excited to be back in Toronto.


Jasmeet Kala - Summer Law Student

Jasmeet Kala is a Summer Law Student at Niren and Associates.

She is currently enrolled in the Faculty of Law at SUNY University at Buffalo, New York She is also a graduate at the University of Toronto, H.BSc., B.Ed.
